New Classroom Behavior Charter

What a year, I'm about to go back to school and it's time to change some things. Starting with my clip chart. Having 3 rotations makes its hard especially since I have some kids twice. I saw our B-Sharp program use a stick that travels and I decided to use that idea. Wal-Mart had some yard sticks with a whole on top🤗.I'm going to put a ring and hang them can't wait to see how they turn out. Here are the work in progress shots.

What a Year

It's been a while since I have been on and so much has changed.  Year is about to start over again and i'm going to try again.
We'll it has been a year of changes.  I was going back to school ready for 2nd grade and 3 days before we were going back I found out I was going back to 1st grade.  Yeah! but I had already packed my stuff and they were in the new room.  So time to unpack and start back in first grade.  My class has changed some much in size.  I started with about 16 and have gone down to 12. It seems that I get a child and loose some.  I have 4 new students since school started and have lost just as many.  Love my small number especially since it seems like I have about 20 with this bunch.  We'll i'll try to start my new year with trying to blog more.

Classroom Preview Peek

Last Thursday I had a meet and greet with my new principal.  It was great till I found out I was going back to first grade.  I have been getting ready for 2nd grade and now I'm going  back.  Let's see the plus side, I was there last year!  But I have been planning for 2nd grade all summer, we'll I guess I have some quick planning to do.  We start school August 24th, so I have some time.

Now to my classroom preview peek.  I wanted something new this year so I decided to do a chalkboard theme.  I used Schoolgirl style Chalkboard & Polka Dots Collection and it turned out great. Here are just a couple of my pictures, my room is still a work in progress.  I had training this past week for dyslexia so this is what I did in about two full days.

 The yellow label bins are from my TPT store.  Get them here just print them on color cardstock and your ready to go.

 I found this shoe organizer at a garage sale last year.  I might need to paint it black to match but didn't have time this summer.  The labels are from Target Dollar spot, it was an awesome find and I just a white sharpie to write on them.  I also used the same label on my library to set up it with our schools AR books.

Love my new book boxes from Really Good Stuff.  I know they are a little expensive but should last to make up for the price.

1st Day of School

Secret Envelope

Can’t wait to try for Back to School.

I saw this in a PD today and know my students would love to do in class.  Not just for the 1^st day, but for the whole year I have some great ideas to use the secret envelope for.  This is a gret way for your students to get to know each other at the beginnig of the year.  You can make and put any questions that you would love to add. I have done some that I will use with my class.  Just print on colored paper cut and put inside envelope.  Add the top secret clip art to the front of your envelope to catch your students attention.

How it works:

·       Put students in groups of 4 or 5 (make sure you have enough questions for everyone to pull one)

·       First student pulls a question from the envelope

·       They read it aloud and answer the question.  Go around the group and everyone else answers the same question

·       Pass the envelope to the next person.  They pull out a question and they read it aloud and answer the question.  Then everyone else answers the same question. 

·       Continued the process of next student pulling question and have them and everyone else answer it.

Attached is some examples of questions you can do.

Other ways to use this would be:

·       Math – Have slips that say “How can you make 10?” First students may say “5+5=10”, 2^nd student may answer “9+1=10” and so on.

·       ELA – Given an examples of a noun? Given an example of a verb? Make a sentence using the noun “boy”

Classroom

Just purchased a great addition to my classroom.  I have been shopping for some new 3-Drawer carts for my students journals and folders and found at Walmart Homz 3-Drawer Medium Cart, Set of 2 .  I couldn't believe it 2 carts for $9.97, what a steal, but they were out of stock.  So sad :(... My luck I checked the next day and they had them in stock I order 6, I can't get a better deal for that 4.99 each WOW :).

I need to put something in each drawer and it will be good to go. 

 Last year I had the top drawer for writing folder and spirals

2nd drawer was for math folder and journals

3rd drawer was for science journals and folders.

Had them sitting next to my groups and the table captain would just pass them out.  Worked great when I had surprise visits from administration and they wanted to look at students journals. 

Classroom management chart

Here is an example of my new classroom management clip chart for my classroom.  I am doing a bee theme, but you can print them without the top page.  I print them on cardstock then laminate them.  Once they are laminated then put them on a cardboard and hang them.  It's ready to go all you need is some clothespin with your students number on it.  This year I am going to work on moving my clip up, my students loved it last year when they saw their clips move.
